| Camelot's Southern Bell (Scarlett) Only 6 months into my relationship with Rhett, I decided that I would love to own a female Ridgeback as well so I could have two going to shows and have a possible dog-breeding future. I began browsing websites and kept coming back to Camelot's site since they had incredible dogs and always seemed to have litters available. When I finally called, I talked to Clayton, and let him know that I had a male and was potentially interested in a show female. He had one litter on the ground with one female still available, called Bacall. I had seen her pictures and made an appointment to go see her. When I arrived, her whole litter was still there and I sat down on the floor and she was literally the first one to come running to me and we just seemed to click from the beginning. I decided that she was the one and picked her up a couple weeks later. I named her Scarlett, since I already had a Rhett and knew he would fall in love with her as in the movie. I can't even describe how perfect Scarlett has been and is all the time. She is often referred to as a "priss", but when it comes to humans, she craves cuddling and just being a lap dog. For a while, I couldn't resist and let Scarlett sleep with me under the covers at night and she is the BEST cuddler out there! That finally had to end but she and Rhett spend all night curled up together now. Those two have an amazing bond and are just lost without one another. Scarlett was the easiest dog to show and she won most every show entered. I took a long break from showing so it also took her longer than intended to become a champion but she finished in Ventura in July. Michele also showed her for many of her points in the beginning of her show life, and then Terri Brennan took her to Montana and won a 5 point major there. Then the next weekend, Terri showed her in Ventura for single points and won Best of Winners both days! I am planning to breed Scarlett in 2006. |
